Who owns the AI influencer account — the agency or the client?
We're considering partnering with an AI influencer agency to launch a TikTok account for our brand. I want to make sure that if we decide to move on or manage it ourselves later, the account is actually ours. Who owns the channel—the agency managing it, or us as the client?
100% IP ownership stays with the client. You own the account, followers, published videos, and all creative assets. ICG manages the day-to-day: trend research, script writing, AI avatar creation, editing, and posting—but the channel is yours to keep, transition, or modify anytime.
Here's how it works in practice. When we onboard a client, you maintain full access to your TikTok, YouTube Shorts, or Instagram Reels accounts. We handle the content pipeline—we deliver 60 short videos per month, edited and ready to publish from dedicated devices for consistent posting. You approve the avatar and first video, then we publish on your schedule. But the login credentials, the follower list, and every video published remain under your control.
This ownership model is critical for three reasons:
- Portability: If you want to bring production in-house, switch agencies, or pause completely, you can do so without losing your audience or channel history. Your followers and 12-month content library stay with you.
- Brand safety: Your account and brand voice are always yours. You can audit content before posting, set publishing schedules, and enforce brand guidelines without dependency on a third party's access.
- Long-term value: Every account we manage is an asset you build. Our case study, @ai.honeycove, grew to 118.1K followers and 27.03M lifetime views—that value stays with the creator, not ICG. Followers, viral moments, and IP all remain yours.
The partnership model also protects us. We're accountable for content quality and publishing discipline—we deliver 2 videos per day, meet SLAs, and maintain captions and b-roll standards. But the moment you own the output, you're invested in success long-term. You can measure our work directly: follower growth, engagement rate, view velocity. There's no lock-in or hidden clause to buy back your own account.
One practical note: we use dedicated mobile devices per account for security and consistency. These devices stay with the account, but you always have the master credentials to your social platform login. If you ever need to revoke agency access, you can do so instantly.
